Position: Senior Systems Engineer (Petroleum Support)
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Job Purpose & Scope
Ensure that petroleum systems and applications are available according to the agreed service levels, ensure current and future capacity, availability and performance targets are met, maintaining security management and service continuity within asset teams.
Key Accountabilities
1. Supports the overall petroleum operations continuity management process by ensuring that the required IT petroleum technical facilities are available within required and agreed business timescales.
2. Implements IT security policies and controls, as defined by Security Strategy within all petroleum infrastructures, and manages access to petroleum systems.
3. Ensures all current and future capacity and availability aspects of petroleum systems and applications meet the assets Business requirements and cost justifiable.
4. Ensures all proactive and reactive petroleum systems and applications operations activities are completed to meet assets business operation demand.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
· B.Sc in Computer/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or relevant Engineering/Information Technology discipline.
Work Experience
· 8 years experience in computer systems support/development in an oil producing environment including 4 years experience in support of a major computer system development / integration project.
Main Duties
1.1 Monitor existing setup to guarantee systems, applications and data high availability and avoid downtime/data loss.
1.2 Plans for software installation and upgrade to ensure enough resources and minimum downtime.
2.1 Implement Security Controls by Putting the relevant controls in place to ensure that only the right people have access to required information.
3.1 Analyze utilization reports and performs Capacity Planning.
3.2 Follow up the IT trends and advise management to adopt new technologies to achieve ADCO business goals.
3.3 Reviews and amends IT strategies and operating standard procedures.
4.1 Perform systems support activities for PSS covering: Hardware, Operating Systems, Clusters, High Performance Computing, Networking, Oracle/SQL Database Management Systems and systems part of Technical applications.
4.2 Supervise Software configuration and customization to ensure PSS standards are followed.
4.3 Analyze pe! rformance statistics and propose optimal enhancement and preventive actions.
4.4 Document, follow up and update existing setup configurations and changes.
4.5 Investigates complex problems to diagnose underlying causes. Applies available facilities to non-standard situations. Diagnoses causes of difficulties, and devises solutions to ensure that the effect on operations is minimized.
4.6 Defines, documents small scale projects, and actively participates in all phases of the project. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to ensure success of the projects.
4.7 Initiates procurement process by defining product/service specification and scope of work. Prepares technical evaluation for bidder’s proposals.
4.8 Prepares scope of work, SLA and award strategy for PSS contracts
4.9 Reviews training requirements and recommend courses. Participates in recruitment interviews.
4.10 Sets priority for problem resolution, monitors progress an! d applies escalation procedures for problems not progressing s! atisfact orily
