Job Description

1. Record sound for all radio and other audio content such as for mobile products across all projects

2. Mix, edit and master all radio and audio content

3. Ensure programmes are delivered to broadcaster partners and the Project Management Teams on time

4. Work both primarily within the BBC World Service Trust studio but also liaise closely with private studios for recordings and post-production work as required

5. Record sound for all out-of-studio recordings

6. Observe the BBC’s editorial, production and contractual guidelines

7. Work closely with the Radio Producers and the Mobile Production and Team

8. Source voice and music talent as and when required

9. Maintain the BBC WST Studio and all equipment in it

10. Build and maintain the music and SFX library

11. Archive all recorded material meticulously

12. Organise and administer BBC WST studio time slots across various project outputs

 

 

As part of the Trust’s Creative and Production Team in India, working to the National Creative Director & Executive Producer, the Studio Manager should be a mid-level talent (with at least 3-4 years’ experience). S/he will manage the in-house studio facility and look after all technical aspects of the production of radio and other audio content across all projects. This will involve sound recording, mixing, editing, mastering and delivery of the finished product. She/he must ensure the superior quality of all the outputs. S/he will be required to work with the NCD & EP and the Creative Team, as well as the Project Management Teams and ensure operational smoothness, timely delivery and superior quality of the output. S/he will also be required to work closely with production companies/ other business associates on the execution of the output. S/he will also have to liaise with different kinds of external partners on various oper! ational issues. S/he will also have to do outdoor recording if required.

The position is based in New Delhi but will entail travel within India.

 

Desired Candidate Profile

1. Developed understanding of quality radio programming

2. Excellent operational skills and experience in recording, editing and mixing of radio programmes, involving use of sound-effects, music and speech, including dramatized speech

3. Sound knowledge of the FM radio space – trends, programming, tie-ups, promos, innovations and marketing

4. Innovative thinking

5. Good interpersonal skills, eye for detail and operational efficiency

6. Excellent music sense

7. Proficiency in English and Hindi

8. At least 4 years’ experience

9. Excellent ability to use radio production equipment and post-production tools including Adobe or Cool Edit Pro software programmes

10. Ability to source top quality voice and music talent

11. Understanding of core BBC values of impartiality, independence and accuracy
